Professional Organizations

National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) - The world’s largest mathematics education organization; devoted to ensuring equitable mathematics learning of the highest quality for all students through vision, leadership, professional development, and research

Ohio Council of Teachers of Mathematics (OCTM) - An organization dedicated to the professional support of mathematics educators and mathematics learning in Ohio since 1951

Ohio Mathematics Education Leadership Council (OMELC) - A group with the purpose of enhancing and extending leadership in mathematics education in and for Ohio schools

Ohio Mathematics and Science Coalition (OMSC) - An advocacy group including professionals from the education, business, and public sectors, working toward the common goal of revitalizing and improving science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education from pre-school to beyond graduate school

Leadership in Mathematics Education (NCSM) - A national organization for all who are interested in leadership and change in school mathematics

Inside Mathematics - A professional resource for educators passionate about improving students’ mathematics learning and performance; includes resources aligned to the  Common Core, Problems of the Month (leveled for all ages of students), classroom videos for all grade levels, performance assessment tasks, and more

Illustrative Mathematics - A site maintained by and for mathematics educators that provides elaboration/clarification of the Common Core Standards and example tasks that reflect the standards 

Progressions documents for the CCSS-M - Narrative documents describing the progression of a topic across several grade levels; very helpful for understanding the meaning behind many of the standards

Engage NY - A high quality set of instructional resources for nearly every grade and course reflected in the Common Core Standards (both ELA and mathematics) — click on this link (or the “Common Core Curriculum” link in the drop down menu under the Common Core tab on the homepage) to access the module/lesson plans (units) and assessments - created and organized by the New York State Department of Education

Math Forum - Online resource for improving math learning, teaching, and communication; many mathematical questions answered at the Ask Dr. Math portion of the site

Research on the Common Core State Standards - This compendium, created by the Center on Education Policy and updated periodically, includes over 60 research studies focused on the Common Core State Standards, and encompasses research from multiple sources, such as government entities, independent organizations, and peer-reviewed publications from academic journals and other outlets
